Hello! And welcome to KayuCo.
​
The word kayu belongs to my Indonesian heritage. At home we had carvings, turned bowls, delicate shadow puppets and wooden figurines. The fish was called ikan; the fisherman was Fred.
​
I have always been a maker and a 'saver of things just in case' and I'm a magpie for salvaged and reclaimed timber. From my workshop in the beautiful Chilterns I make bespoke furniture and homeware, from desks and bedside tables to wine racks, trays, candle holders and plant stands. Designs are pared back and unfussy and celebrate the small details: velvety-smooth finishes, corners ‘just so’, knots, whorls and grain front and centre.
I am also passionate about reconditioning old-fashioned or unloved furniture, peeling back decades-old varnish to reveal the original form, and re-imagining potential. I use beautiful contemporary colours and patterns, collaborating with my customers to meet their vision and create unique, beautifully finished re-loved treasures.
These things have their own story - someone loved them once and someone will again. It's cyclical, sustainable, and it just feels 'right'.

How to buy
I list larger items that are available immediately on Vinterior and Etsy. These are one-offs so when they're gone, they're gone!
All other furniture, homeware and upcycles are by commission.
Commissions
Handmade. I make everything to order. Email me with details of what you’d like made, including dimensions, colours, hardware and any other unique touches you have in mind.
Please allow a 4 to 6 week turnaround for larger items such as desks and tables. Smaller projects and homeware are often much quicker to make.
Re-loved. If you already own a piece of furniture and you'd like to give it new life, email a photo of it and let's discuss ideas. Alternatively, if you’re looking for a specific piece I may be able to source it for you.
Delivery. I can usually deliver within a 10 mile radius. Otherwise I use a trusted courier or you are welcome to collect from my workshop.
